A Word from the Editor: A New Chapter for les éditions Leal Torres

Dear Readers,

It is with great joy that I welcome you to the new website of les éditions Leal Torres.

Our publishing house was founded in 2020 with the mission of bringing together writers, artists, and artisans in celebration of artistic creation and traditional know-how. Born from a dual passion for art and literature, and driven by the desire to foster a dialogue between creators of yesterday and today, this unique project aims to create printed masterpieces that catalyze extraordinary artistic, poetic, and literary experiences.

Since the inception of our publishing house, we have published four artists’ books: Le gardeur de troupeaux, Les cygnes sauvages, Für Ingeborg Bachmann and Le hautbois de Delphes. Three books, planned for publication in 2026, are also currently in production: Pouvoirs du livre, Comment naît un livre ? and Application formée.

This emerging collection brings together the pen of Fernando Pessoa, the words of Ingeborg Bachmann, the thoughts of Olivier Kaeppelin, and the writing of Pierre-Marc de Biasi; it explores the work of Kenneth White, dialogues with Joseph Kosuth, observes with Susanna Fritscher. It questions with Alexandre Capan, marvels with Gérard Traquandi, listens with Patrick Quillier, and vibrates with the Orchestre national de Cannes; it benefits from the mastery of Louise Bescond, the know-how of Ruedi Baur and the expertise of the Atelier du Livre d'art et de l'Estampe of the Imprimerie nationale. It converses with so many other authors, artists, artisans, and master craftsmen who infuse it with their diverse voices and perspectives.

This new website is intended as a showcase for the unique expertise of these exceptional men and women who enrich our volumes with their dedication to their craft; this blog, as a space for meeting and exchanging ideas about art and literature, materials and techniques.
