RUEDI BAUR

Since the 1980s, Ruedi Baur has approached his design practice within the context of a civic space to be transformed. Initially working as a graphic designer for numerous cultural institutions, he began developing a transdisciplinary teaching method in the 1990s, grounded in a critical exploration of design culture.
A strong advocate of interdisciplinary design from early on, he founded the Intégral network in 1989 and directed the studios Intégral Ruedi Baur in Paris, Zurich, and Berlin—later known as Intégral designers—until 2023. In 2004, together with sociologist Vera Baur, he founded and directed Design2context, an institute based at ZHdK in Zurich. In 2011, he established the CivicCity Institute for Critical Research in Design, followed by the academic startup 10-milliards-humains in 2018.
For the editorial project, Ruedi Baur was assisted by Odyssée Khorsandian.
